Youth, teens and adults who wish to sing in a special chorus, try out for the musical, prepare for competitions such as All State, will find the Piano for Singers class invaluable in learning their music at home alone.
Piano For Singers will help the student understand the music more deeply since the keyboard provides harmonic context to the melody. The class will help you learn how to: 1) play the melody at the keyboard, 2) understand simple chords (harmony) and simple rhythms, and 3) learn the relationship between melody and harmony. Students will be instructed and guided with a unique process to learn new songs… where to begin and how to do it at the keyboard.
A keyboard or well-tuned piano is a requirement for home practice. Staff paper and pencils are required. Music will be selected by mutual consent appropriate for the student’s age, abilities, skill level, and interests.
