The choral singer must adapt his or her voice to balance and blend with other singers.

CHORAL TECHNIQUES WITH AUDITION PREPARATION
Groups for youth (8-12 yrs.), teens (13-19 yrs.), and adults

Whether you are auditioning for the high school select chorus, elite community chorus, local church choir, a favorite pop singing group, or musical theatre ensemble, you will need vocal preparation and skill building to be successful with the audition!

Most ensembles have specific and unique requirements. Here are a few examples:
• You have to balance and blend with other singers and/or instrumentalists.
• You must adapt to group phrasing and breathing, dynamics, articulation, projection, vocal style, and interpretation.
• You may be expected to sight read and demonstrate vocal technical skills in scales or arpeggios.
• You may be expected to know how to follow a conductor or director

This class will be directed especially to your needs and considerations. We will assess your vocal and musical skills. We will explore the requirements and the audition process for the choral group. I will then help you select and prepare music that meets the ensemble requirements and suits your voice and skills. The choice of music is very important. Most often “Happy Birthday” or “America” does not do it!

After a strong audition, you will need skills and knowledge to stay in the group and be successful. There are many choral techniques, musical and vocal skills to help cement your place within the ensemble.
