The lessons are individualized to meet the specific requirements of the audition. Students will receive advice and instruction for all aspects of auditioning.
SOLO AUDITION PREPARATION AND INSTRUCTION
Private lessons for middle school youth, teens and adults
These lessons are designed to the student prepare for solo auditions for:
• College/graduate school (music major or minor, musical theatre, music education)
• Middle school/high school musicals and competitions
• Community and professional musical theatre and opera productions
• All State and Regional High School Competitions
• Scholarships, prizes
The lessons are individualized to meet the specific requirements of the audition. Students will receive advice and instruction for all aspects of auditioning:
• Preview screening of your voice and recommendations
• Advice and instruction on choice of song material to suit the audition
• Song preparation including all aspects of performance practice and presentation
• Guidance on creating a solid resume, and other required audition materials (e.g. repertoire list, head shot, recommendations)
• How to fulfill audition requirements and follow procedures
• Mock audition practice with feedback
• What to do in case of health/vocal issues and creating a “Plan B”
• Protocol for auditions including what to wear and how to present yourself
• How to choose appropriate and unique repertoire for the college & graduate school audition*
• How to prepare for the “prescreening” process for college and music interview*
• Assess knowledge of IPA (International Phonetics Alphabet)*
• Practice and instruction on musicianship skills (sight reading, ear training, and tonal memory utilizing various materials for practice)*
• Assess your basic piano skills*
• How to receive feedback, interpret commentary, and follow up on the audition
